Back before corporate chains and the craft food movement, every Colorado town had a cafe (or two) that offered "a home cooked meal." All were different in decor, staff and food quality, but (if beer was served), all featured the ubiquitous Coors Colorado souvenir placemat map.
The Coors souvenir placemat map of Colorado was my favorite part of dining out. I probably learned more about the history and commerce of the state from these placemats than I did in school.
When the Colorado Tourism Office called in July 2014 to ask if I would be interested in illustrating a Colorado picture map, I jumped at the chance to draw the placemat of my dreams!
